Another Labor Day weekend spent at Disneyland.
Hope you all had a fantastic Labor Day weekend. For the 3rd year in a row I spent it running a half marathon through Disneyland! 13.1 miles! This year I had three friends run it with me. Becky, who has run it every year with me. Her sister Roxanne, first time running this one, but has run others. Also has the most incredible anti-midas touch when it comes to running races. Luckily this one happened and with good weather. And finally my roommate Niki who ran her very first half marathon. The weather was perfect. Temps in the high 70’s to low 80’s. Sun stayed away until about mile 11 for me. We started the course in downtown Disney and looped around into California Adventure, (a second theme park that is connected to Disney and of course owned by Disney. You just have to pay extra to go to that one.) into Disneyland and then out into the streets of Anaheim. This year we were lucky enough again to run through Angel Stadium. We run down the first base line to home plate and out the 3rd base line back to the parking lot. This year they had most of the bottom section filled with girl and boy scouts cheering us on. It gets loud on the field! The course then ends up back at Downtown Disney to finish. Check out the course for yourself here. I was a little disappointed that I did not improve on my time this year. I added 2 whole seconds! But between not being able to work out for 2 weeks before because of the fires and not feeling very good pre-race, I guess I am always glad to have just finished and in a decent time for me. Other than that, the fires are finally dying down. The sky has mostly turned back to its pretty blue color, and it hasn’t been snowing ash in the mornings anymore. Yay! I am still working over at Hell’s Kitchen. Probably into October now. Good news is we have moved our offices, so now I am only a short 2 miles away. I’ve been biking to work most nights. It’s great!
